About Darlene

darleneDarlene Stephenson developed her interest in watercolor painting over a span of many years, interrupted by raising a busy family of four sons, and working as a secretary for Buttrey Food Stores and school secretary in Great Falls, Montana.   In retirement she resumed her painting, and soon developed her own style and technique. She was an active member of Studio 706 and Arts Association of Montana. Her work has been shown at various venues with both groups and she also participated in shows and auctions at Paris Gibson Square.  She has won numerous awards at the Montana State Fair. (Juror’s Choice and Judges Choice). Darlene chooses imagery that holds beauty, meaning, and sometimes nostalgia. One of her paintings was on tour with the “Montana Art Mobile”. In recent years, Darlene’s signature style has evolved to incorporate old family photographs. The result is daintily detailed, a loving tribute to people and times gone by.  Also, painting on old original sheet music has been fun. She moved to Loveland, Colorado about two years ago and has been happy to resume  her interest in art in this beautiful state.  She has been displaying her art in Loveland at the 2nd Friday Art Walk and the following day on Saturday at the Majestic at 315 4th St. She recently won a 1st Place Award in the H20 Art Show at the Windsor Art & Heritage Center.  That show will run through August 5th.
